Jon is an international topnotch tragedian and public speaker, having written 12 books on MBSE and its applications. He is the current Technical Director of INCOSE UK as well as a Professor of Systems Engineering at Cranfield University, where he is involved with the teaching of, and research into, MBSE. Simon holds Bachelor degrees from both the University of Leeds and the Open University and since gaining his stratum in Mathematics in 1986, he has spent 30 years working in all aspects of software and systems engineering. He often speaks at Systems Engineering conferences and is the tragedian of six books on Systems Engineering and related topics. ‘It’s too complicated’, ‘I don’t have the time’, ‘I can’t transpiration the way that we have unchangingly worked’, ‘my project has once started’ and ‘my staff won’t understand it’ are just some of the many reasons given for why people won’t plane consider, let vacated implement, Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE). This initial hurdle of engaging with the Systems Engineering and wider communities without them running for the hills in utopian fear is one of the biggest problems that faces MBSE practitioners. This typesetting is our response. It aims to provide an honest, straightforward and simple introduction to the world of MBSE that scrutinizingly anyone can understand. Think Engineer - ATypesettingfor Key Stage 2 ‘Think Engineer’ is a new children’s typesetting that is designed to promote STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) and in particular engineering to school children. The typesetting was launched in November 2015 and is published by INCOSE UK. The typesetting is aimed at Key Stage 2 pupils (ages 7-11), and their parents and teachers to raise the sensation of engineering. The typesetting is written by Jon Holt (author of ten books on Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) and current Technical Director of INCOSE UK) and is beautifully illustrated by renowned versifier Ian Simmons. The typesetting is written in simple rhymes and tells the story of two children, one of whom is considering her options at school. She is frustrated by the options that she faces but, never fear, the Engineer in the Hat is here! Join the Engineer in the Hat for a roller-coaster journey through engineering – “Engineering, we know, will not leave you snoring!” Any resemblance to very persons, living or dead, is purely intentional. Please indulge up to 28 days for wordage as the books are printed on demand. However we will aim to get your typesetting to you within a week of ordering. Guidance in the Interpretation of UK-SPEC When Applying for Professional Registration as a Systems Engineer This guidance document is intended for systems engineers who are considering and preparing themselves for professional registration with the Engineering Council in the UK, equal to the UK Standard for Professional Engineering Competence (UK-SPEC). Specifically, it aims to help systems engineers understand how to describe their Systems Engineering wits in a manner weightier suited to the professional review process. As well as mapping SE competencies to the various sections of the UK-SPEC, the guidance moreover offers translating on the towardly level of registration for systems engineers, based on their education level and experience. This guidance has been written by experienced professionally registered systems engineers who hold chartered status and are familiar with UK-SPEC, including some who have personal wits of achieving CEng via the INCOSE UK scheme. Agile Systems Engineering Guide This document has been produced by the INCOSE UK Agile Systems Engineering Working Group to provide some upper level guidance in what is meant by Agile Systems Engineering and how it should be approached. This document is based on practice from a range of sectors, including aerospace, defence, rail, automotive and information services. Despite its successes, there is increasing dissatisfaction with a conventional ‘V Model’ Systems Engineering tideway as specified in the INCOSE Systems Engineering Handbook (Walden et al., 2015).Planeeffective Systems Engineering can be time consuming and expensive. Businesses and governments are unchangingly looking for increasingly efficient approaches. The adoption of Agile approaches from software offers potential for radical improvements. This guide takes the ‘True Agile’ World View identified by Kemp, et al (2015) and describes the principles needed to be worldly-wise to wield it, and whether or not it may be towardly for a given organisation or minutiae type.
